Think you might want a future in veterinary medicine? Here’s your foot in the door.

Hawthorne Animal Hospital in Overland Park has an opening for an experienced or highly motivated part-time kennel technician. You’ll be walking, feeding, medicating and cleaning up after dogs and cats in our care and doing some general facility cleaning as well.

We’ll be honest: this isn’t a glamorous job, but it is rewarding one where you can make a difference and start a career—there’s lots of opportunity for learning, training and advancement.

Regular shifts are in the afternoon from 3 p.m. until close (typically 6 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.) You will be required to work two weekends per month and some holidays.

This is the perfect job for high school or college students interested in possibly pursuing a career in the veterinary field as we will give you an opportunity to grow your skills. That said, we’re not just looking for summertime help—this is a permanent position. You should be confident in handling animals, responsible, reliable, and able to lift 40 lbs.

Veterinary Technician

Veterinary Technician

We currently have openings for part-time or full-time veterinary technician/nurse. We rely on our nursing team to aid our doctors in restraint, client education, lab sample collection, radiology (full body and dental), ultrasound, surgical assistance, and so much more.

We want someone who cares not just about animals, but about their owners, too. For us, it’s about more than just helping animals. We expect that you will love animals and want to give them the best medical care and support. As a veterinary nurse, at our hospital, you will be a part of the entire process. We expect excellence, because we want to give the highest level of care to patients and the highest level of customer service to their owners.
